These premium, hand-tied leaders are based off of George Harvey’s original dry fly formulas. Tied with a butt section of low-memory Maxima with a .017 diameter on the 4x and .015 diameter on the 5x and 6x, stout enough to turn over larger flies, but delicate enough to drop them gently to the water. The last four sections are tied with Rio Powerflex for ultimate versatility.

The real value of these custom dry fly leaders is that they are designed to land on the water in a series of s-curves that provide slack in the leader and enable a drag-free drift. This is called the “Improved George Harvey Dry Fly Leader” because it consists of softer, more supple material than his original design. As Harvey continued to develop and experiment with his leader designs, he found that the softer materials tied with the thinnest tippets provided the best drifts and ultimately resulted in more fish caught, and the leaders listed here are some of the highest quality available on the market today.
