Scuds are a natural food source present in many streams year round. This pattern will imitate larger food organisms such as caddis larvae or crane fly larvae. In smaller sizes, it can imitate tiny mayflies, grubs, or any number of foods that fish prefer. Scuds are also a primary food source in many of the spring creeks throughout the country, especially on the fertile limestones in Central Pennsylvania. So make sure to pack along a few Scuds next time you hit the river!
