Yellow Creek is a 20.9-mile limestone-influenced tributary of the Raystown Branch of the Juniata River in Bedford County. Not to be confused with the stream of the same name in Indiana County, this Yellow Creek is a Class A trout stream that is also stocked with trout, and is home to one of the oldest Catch and Release Fly Fishing Only sections in the state.

Two sections of stream are stocked, open water. The first begins at the Beaver Creek and extends to Red Bank Hill, while the second begins at the bridge in Yellow Creek and extends down to the stream’s confluence with Raystown Branch.

Nestled between these two stocked sections is the 1-mile Catch and Release Fly Fishing Only. At certain times of the spring, from the beginning of the Sulphurs through the emergence of the Green Drakes, this section can get pretty crowded. Best times to fish are earlier in the spring before the major hatches begin or later after the drakes have ended. However, if you don’t mind battling crowds and waiting to fish certain pools, hitting a fly hatch on Yellow Creek can be a memorable experience.
