Regular blog posts featuring popular waters from around the state and country as well as articles pertaining to conservation and industry news, product reviews, and opinion pieces.

Article and photo contributions:

Writers and photographers are encouraged to submit their work to Dark Skies Fly Fishing for consideration for publication in the magazine as well as the blog. We’re in need of all types of work related to fly fishing in the Great Lakes Region and beyond. Payment is negotiable.

A digital magazine:

Every quarter we bring you a full-sized, digital magazine dedicated to fly fishing in the Great Lakes Region and surrounding areas. If you’re a writer or photographer, we are currently seeking submissions. Feel free to send a query via the contact page on this website. Issues are published the first of each month in March, June, September, and December.

Conservation and news:

Is your local fishing club or chapter of Trout Unlimited holding a special event or stream improvement project? Let us know and we will gladly promote the event on this website.

The guy behind this madness:

Ralph C. Scherder, III, is an award-winning writer and photographer whose work has appeared in numerous magazines including Ohio Valley Outdoors, Pennsylvania Angler & Boater, Pennsylvania Outdoor News, New York Outdoor News, Fur-Fish-Game, Sports Afield, and many others. He is an active member of the Pennsylvania Outdoor Writers Association and Outdoor Writers Association of America. He lives in Coudersport, PA, with his wife Natalie, their daughter Sophia, their son Jude, and their rambunctious English Setter Finn and suspicious German Shepherd Trapper.
